SURF Mentoring
Potential projects/topics: Graph-based machine learning for smart traffic signal control in urban areas, where graph neural networks will be applied to coordinate traffic signals to reduce traffic congestion. The student will review the recent research papers, explore the use of a combination of graph-based machine learning and conventional algorithms, and develop code based on open-source traffic system similators.
Potential skills gained: Reading papers, graph-based machine learning, Python programming, and project management
Required qualifications or skills: Data structure and algorithms, Python programming. Major: computer science, electrical engineering, computer engineering, and related fields.
Direct mentor: Faculty/P.I.
