SURF Mentoring

Potential projects/topics: The project deals with a solar energy-driven membrane separation process for fresh water production. We also work on membrane characterization for their ion-selectivity for the extraction of lithium and other elements from the waste water.

Potential skills gained: The student will gain the fundamental knowledge of membrane separation processes for water purification, extraction of potential elements, i.e. Lithium, from waste water.

Required qualifications or skills: No prior skills are required

Direct mentor: Post-doctorate

Research Areas

Manoj Kumar Sharma is a Post-doctoral Research Associate in Dr. Qilin Li’s lab. He received his PhD from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (India) in 2022. His research is focused on efficient harvesting of solar energy through desalination, photovoltaic, and thermal storage systems. Currently, he is working on the critical issues related to the nanophotonic enabled solar membrane desalination (NESMD) systems.
