SURF Mentoring

Potential projects/topics: We will work at the exciting intersection of algorithms, machine learning, and network science. Our lab has several projects on personalized machine learning, biomedical signal processing for arrythmia detection, bioacustics, food webs and environmental conservation, social media analysis, epidemics modeling and analysis.

Potential skills gained: This will be an exploration project. you will learn mostly about research, reviewing literature, and abstracting problems, practical implementation of code and ML algorithms as well as visualization

Required qualifications: intermediate level of coding experience will be good to have, some linear algebra and probability will be good as well.

Direct mentor: Faculty/P.I., Post-doctorate, Graduate Student

Research Areas

Professor Uribe's research areas are the analysis of algorithms for distributed inference and social learning, and the fundamental limits of distributed optimization over networks. He has a passion for all things distributed.
