SSRIs for the Win
Team Advisor/PI
Project Description/ Research Team Goals
The goal of this team is to study repurposed (SSRIs) or novel small molecules that alleviate neurodegeneration-associated symptoms. The team uses the small model organism nematode Caenorhabditis elegans to carry out genetic, cell biological, and biochemical experiments to characterize the mechanism of action of these molecules.
Issues Addressed
Loss of neuronal function, protein aggregation.
Research Methods and Technology
Model organism research (C. elegans), genetics, cell biology, biochemistry
